Meet the team

WHM has an experienced and qualified team of tutors, assessors and support workers who can support you through your educational journey with us, which ensuring that your individual health and social care needs are also met.

Our team all have specific experience and expertise working within the Learning Disability sector.

Within each Learning Pathway there are Tutors with vast experience and knowledge of the Animal Care, Horticultural and Construction industries.

Liz Wells

Managing Director

Liz Wells first qualified as a nurse in Leicestershire specialising in heart and thoracic but then focused her work with learning disabilities; managing both residential care homes and day services. Before setting up WHM Work Connections Liz managed day services in Melton Mowbray and in Market Harborough for over 12 years for the local County Council.

Other relevant training includes;

  • Advanced Management in Care (equivalent to NVQ4)- Leicester College
  • Introductory certificate in First Line management Level 3 ILM
  • Preliminary certificate in Residential Care
  • NVQ Assessor D32, D33 and A1

Helen Sedgwick

Managing Director

Helen Sedgwick qualified with a Bsc Psychology degree in 2007. Prior to setting up WHM Work Connections Helen worked for the local Authority firstly within day services for adults with learning disabilities and then moving to the Adult Social Care Social Work Teams to assess, commission and review care packages for people living within Leicestershire.

Other relevant training includes;

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children’s and Young People’s Services
