WHM Work Connections was set up as a new limited company in July 2011 by Liz Wells and Helen Sedgwick.

With many years experience working within the local Adult Social Care sector we identified an important gap in the market- a service that supports adults to get the skills they need to move into the workplace and support to gain employment.

With many years experience working within the local Adult Social Care sector we identified an important gap in the market- a service that supports adults to get the skills they need to move into the workplace and support to gain employment.

WHM Work Connections has a modern approach to day care provision; not working within a ‘traditional day service setting’ but instead supporting individuals within purpose built Skills Centres and within the community.

WHM services are based on working dairy and arable farms which offer a vast range of opportunities and facilities to support the development of skills required to become more independent and work ready. For a county with a strong agricultural tradition, there are clear benefits in drawing on our farming heritage in Leicestershire and combining the care of the land with the care of people.

Our
Ethos

WHM Work Connections will operate ethically with the following values

  • To provide excellent services to people with disabilities and their families based on supporting people to lead fulfilling lives
  • To promote choice, control and independence for all of our service users
  • Service users will be central to their support package including; how information is shared, decision making and support planning etc
  • All services users and staff members will be treated respectfully
  • We will ensure a high quality service by regularly reviewing support packages, policies and procedures and gathering regular feedback from our service users
  • To provide a positive working environment for staff and continue to develop their own skills and experience
  • To lead the social care provider sector by example through innovation and the provision of high quality services, sharing good practice as appropriate

" [I] express my admiration for the support and independence opportunities that you provide... this is a fantastic achievement and you should be extremely proud of what your organisation has achieved. The County Council recognises and supports WHM and we look forward to continuing to work with you in the future"
Mr D W Houseman MBE CC Cabinet Lead Member for Adult Social Care
